Reading The Olympic Games
 
 
Teaching goals:
1. Target language
a. Learn the following words and phrases:
Greece, competitor, motto, further, rank, gymnastics, prepare, compete,
every four years, take part in
b. Learn some important sentences:
①. Every four years athletes from all over the world take part in the Olympic Game.
② The ancient Olympic Games began around the year 776 BC in Greece. P53.       ③. They were held in Greece——the country in which the Games were born. P53.     
④. The Olympic motto is “Faster, Higher, Stronger.” P53.   
⑤. Following the history-making success in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, China won another great competition in 2001, which was not for a medal. P53.
⑥. It was the competition between countries to host the Olympic Games. P53.
⑦. The people of Beijing... will be preparing to light the Olympic torch to welcome athletes and sports fans from all over the world. P53
c. Use the future passive voice:
More trees will be planted and new roads will be built．P53
