Teaching Aims:  1. Students are encouraged to skim the reading

part to get the main idea and then to scan the part to get more information about the theme parks.

2. Students are encouraged to be creative to think of ideas for an “English- speaking world park”.

Teaching Important Point:  Improve the students’ reading and speaking abilities.

Teaching Difficult Point: How to help the students to analyse the passage.

2. Pair work or individual work to make every student speak in class.

Teaching Procedure:  

1.      Warming up:

1)     This world is full of fun. All of us like to have fun. Most of us have ever been to parks, zoos, and so on. Who can describe it?

2)Ask the Ss to look at some pictures then answer the following questions. (show some slides and questions)

2.      Lead in

A theme park is a type of park where you can have fun riding on big machines such as Rotler Coaster the big wheel, Fart cars and Bungee Jumping, but where the whole park is based on one subject such as water or space travel.

3. Skim the passage then fill in the blanks.(show some slides)

4. Scan the text, answer some questions. (show some slides)

5. Let the Ss analyse the passage, find out the main ideas for each paragraph

6. Retell the passage.

Beijing World Park

Beijing World Park, located in southwestern Feng tai District, is 17 kilometers from Tian’ anmen and 40 kilometres from the Capital International Airport. The park has 100 world-famous man-made and natural attractions from nearly 50 countries throughout the world. It is the largest miniature theme park in Asia.

The main gate of the park consists of a group of buildings. The visitors will also see a life-size Italian terrace garden, with magnificent stepped buildings, fountains and statues. The park is divided into five sections: Asia, Africa, Europe, America and Latin America. You can have a global voyage; by taking a speed-boat and sightsee around the park if you take if you take a battery-operated car.

Since its opening in i993, the Beijing world Park has received 1,5 million visitors every year. Besides, the park has added new items every year. Of china’s theme parks, the Beijing World Park is outstanding. Visitors can travel the world in one day, and the park has become a window to the cultures of various countries.
